I am rapidly approaching the big Five-Oh so my PA buddy Bill Baughman took on a winter project of building a set of twin osage selfbows and gave me the pick of the litter. I chose the longer one and it shoots great! He even gave me a set of matched arrows - what a friend! We used to hunt together a lot but have let distance and work come between us. We are making plans to undo that mistake.

It does not have a name yet - any suggestions? Old Yeller is already taken, by another osage selfbow that my IA buddy Jim McInteer made for me.

Great looking bow.

Did you only shoot one arrow or only one hit the target?

Bill, my birthday is tomorrow.

Jeff and Bill
What a generous gift.
Also you are right that work and distance can erode a friendship ,always keep the bridge open and clear.

Nice bow, Jeff!

The picture not only shows a nice bow, but that you need a new target, the garden is a little sparse, the outbuildings need paint and the horse needs to be shod.

Maybe call the bow "Grounded" until you get the chores done.

I love that name Mark - you can't imagine how appropriate it is right now, in more ways than one! All that time spent hunting the past few years has caught up with me! I can't hunt at my own farm because of all those chores right in front of my eyes. The last thing I want to think about while hunting is the chores I should be doing instead of goofing off.

Ron, good idea, Paul was hunting with his osage selfbow. I am determined to kill some game with it this year.

Terry, Happy Birthday and I will get right on that. LOL.
Jeff, you might want to name it "Shock & AWE" cause it will rattle your bones when you release an arrow.
Glad you like it, and I look forward to hunting more with you in the future buddy.

or call it SCOUTING.....as you kill something when you just go to take a look.

Bill, you mentioned that it had some hand shock; maybe I am used to that in my bows or just ignorant because I have not noticed hand shock at all - I just notice that it puts the arrow where I am looking and that is good enough for me, especially at my effective/preferred range of 5-10 yards. Plus, I believe in the old saying "beggers can't be choosers" so I certainly won't "look a gift horse in the mouth". :D

"Grounded" is an outstanding name for that bow.... from several different perspectives.

Jeff, I love the bow! I tend to like to use a little more of my target than just the kill section, but to each their own.

It would be easy to set that bow down in those reeds and not find it. Perfect stalking bow for the islands. Love Osage. Year 50 has been a good year.

You got that right, Tim, I might have to tie a string connecting it and my pack to keep from losing it. Like I almost did with this bow, can you see it?
