Great story Steve, sounds like a good adventure even if the hunting wasn't as good as in the past - at least you didn't leave without meat! I bet it was intense when that sow charged...

I was at a safety meeting about dams and what to do in case of failures/problems with them last night and one example of a dam failure came from Hawaii. The guy doing the presentation said that ten inch rain events are not uncommon there. It was pretty unbelievable at the time, but after reading your story I have to say it isn't as far fetched as it sounded. Glad you made it across that stream without any head broken on rock syndrome!

Nice hunt Steve! With that beard I bet you fit right in with the hippies - got any photos of them? With killing the hog early in your hunt, did you have any problems keeping the meat cool as you continued to hunt?

Zach, I once worked for a national engineering company (GEI Consultants) that won a contract to evaluate dams on the Islands about 10 years ago. They asked for volunteers and I really wanted to go, but couldn't be away from my family for months at a time then. I often regret not taking advantage of that opportunity.

Good thing Steve-Ho was not wearing his vest, otherwise there may have been news reports of a seal swimming in the river.

Looks like a great adventure! Thanks for sharing.

Hawaii is on my short list. Hate to hear the hunting has suffered. Any places left for a good hunt?

Greg
