Bill Dunn called a while ago with a very generous offer to make a little money for PBS. He had 6-3 packs of his new 3 blade Instinct broadheads that were "seconds". He can elaborate but they are solid and fine for hunting, just cosmetic, a little below target weight, or slightly uneven grind that can be corrected with a few minutes on the file.

I was trying to come up with an exciting way to get these gone but considering I've had them since Thanksgiving and this is the first chance I've had to do this, let's just make this quick and simple.

Image

They are marked as follows:

188-190 GONE DA
190-191 GONE DA

190-191 GONE HO
193-194 GONE HO
199 GONE HO

199-201 GONE KC

Let's do it like this:

$30/3 pack or all for $150

Let me know what you want, call Brenda to make the donation and I will ship them for free.

As, Steve said these heads are all SECONDS. It is very important that it is understood they are not heads what I would sell as first quality. That being said these heads are structurally sound and need to be hunted. What made them seconds? As, Steve said most of them have something funky in the grind. How did it get that way? These heads are 2 7/8". There are 7 different pieces of steel in every head. Needless to say even with a great fixture it is easy to get things slightly misaligned during assembly. If they are off just slightly once you get out 2 7/8" forward of the back of the broadhead that minor misalignment will become worse. If they are not assembled nearly perfectly strait the grind will run heavy on one side of the blade and light on the other. In some cases up just behind the tip reinforcement pin you may not have any grind on one side of that blade. What does that mean to the integrity of the head? NOTHING! Any heads that have more than just a minor problem get scraped. You can be confident that these heads are good structurally sound heads that will take a hunting edge as well as any first quality head. They just have a minor issue. They are much to good to be scraped. In fact every broadhead in my quiver is a second. For that matter all of my bow hunting family shoot our seconds heads with great success.

The idea to donate these heads to the PBS came about after a conversation with Kevin Dill. He has some of these seconds heads that I gave him to try to put to use in Hawaii. I was asking him if he needed any more and he said he still had the ones from Hawaii. That is when he suggested donating them. It sounded good to me so here we are. Hopefully they will do some good for the PBS. I know there are other members who have some of these seconds also. Hopefully they will see this and chime in with some added input with their impression of these "seconds".

Bill is calling these heads "seconds", but that's mainly because he's of a perfectionistic mindset. Every broadhead I ever carried became a second once I got after it with the file and stone. :D

You can take this to the bank: these are perfect broadheads for hunting and they will sharpen to a blistering edge...no balance or spin issues...and cosmetically near-perfect. If you're a grain-weenie...grab your scales and check them. I have 6 of them and seriously am thinking about more.

Yep, seconds don't affect a thing. Just ask any of the animals I have hit with a second. My Grizzly Instinct body count is up to 11 including Turkeys, deer, elk, bear, and antelope. Most if not all of them have been with "seconds" from Bill's cull pile.

I just bought another 6 first run heads so am pretty well stocked up right now. I'll let someone else have first dibs on these for the time being. But if they don't get snapped up before to long I'll be back.

Steve

I will take the 188-190 pack and the 190-191 pack.

If they are mine, post an OK; and I will put a check in the mail.

Thanks, Dennis Allman

Come on boys...somebody needs 3 3 packs of excellent 3 blade broadheads. If somebody grabs them now I only have to make one trip to the post office.

Ho--PM me your address-and thank you!

Duane, let me check with Bill to see if he made any more "mistakes". Hopefully he lets us do this again.

Having them in the house has inspired me to make up a set of Instict tipped FMJs for my Osceola trip this spring!
