A gentleman on TG invited me to come hunt with him on his private property (adjacent to plenty of public) in Ohio this fall!

Going to be there for a little over a week, staying in his cabin. He basically said to bring my bow, arrows and clothing and he will take care of the rest.

I am going to bring plenty of food/drinks for the both of us, but was wanting some neat idea's to gift to him since he is allowing me to hunt for free.

I am going to gift him a PBS membership and also try and find a hat, but was thinking something Montana related, maybe a nice elk shed or something?

What would you guys recommend.....

Neck Knives make great gifts. Most folks wouldn't buy them for themselves but once you have a good neck knife you find yourself reaching for it all the time.

My friend Dave Thomas makes beautiful functional knives and neck knives. His neck sheath is unique and functions quick and retains the knife very secure. The lanyard is designed with a anti choke provision for added safety. Chieftain Knives is his brand name.

He sells to customers and also through 3 rivers archery. Dave is a traditional archer and my best elk hunting partner. He is a police chief by profession. He also teaches and practices tactical and survival skills. In other words he walks the talk.

I hope I'm not breaking the rules of this site by plugging Dave's Chieftain knives.....

Give Dave a call. He is listed in the phone book:

Dave Thomas
Lake Mills Iowa.

When I travel and hunt with someone, especially on an out of state hunt like that, I usually take them a nice knife. I figure if a spend $75.00-$100.00 on a decent knife for them, it is still a cheap hunt for me.

I do a lot of leather working and sometimes I will take something I have made instead... a hip quiver, arm guard or a nice sheath for the knife I bought them.
