We all have the same affliction or we would not be here. My last season closed the 23rd and that night I got maps stretched out, regs open, draw odds, success rates google earth. I should have studied this hard in school.

Kicking around putting in for Sheep next year and if so what unit.
Trying to figure out the logistics of a wilderness Mule Deer hunt in November, if it can be done at all.
Studying maps for an extended Bear season which starts this spring, it runs later than it has in the past and this will open country that has previously inaccessible due to snow.
And of course today my son and I will be picking up treestands and making adjustments to their location.

So what plans, preparations, schemes and dreams are the rest of you involved in?

I just ordered a set of NW CO maps to try to figure out what I am going to do with double digit mule deer points.

Really want to do a serious diy in CO or AZ in '15. Mulies or elk...doesn't matter.

Considering a future Dall sheep hunt. Lion slinking in my brain also.

KD: There aren't many good deals in the BSC offerings but one I did notice was a horseback lion hunt in Arizona. I believe the hunt occurs on the ranch of the Olympic archer Brady Ellison's family. Price seems real reasonable.

Pretty rare for me to not be in the midst of planning or maybe scheming is a better word, for potential upcoming hunts. I do a lot of 'flying' around on Google Earth.

Like Steve H I am always scheming, Google Earth is fantastic!
Ok so as of right now. Stewart island hunt for five days, chasing Whitetail. I leave on Janurary 12th

Fallow hunt in some local mountains, end of Jan start of Feb. Need permission from farmer first.

Tahr/Chamios hunt end of Feb/start of March.

Red deer backpack hunt in local mountains, end of March.

Jet boat trip into Fiordland, date unknown

Merino sheep hunt in the winter sometime.

Squeeze in a hunt with TOO SHORT.

Found out not so long ago that my mrs has been planning with my mates mrs to take us to Rarotonga next winter. So I will have to look into bowhunting over there, I think there's pigs over there. This is all if everything goes to plan.

Changing jobs in two weeks so I am not sure what I am going to be able to do this next season. I do know that I am going to do the PBS pig gig in Texas in February. I also have four points towards elk for Wyoming so I might have to consider trying for a tag this year. Will also be looking to draw a bear tag here in the Yooper. If I draw that I would be hunting bear in September rather than elk.

I had my heart set on a DIY AK Moose hunt in 2015 but after both air charters I had picked out informed me their repeat clients had taken all available slots before any were offered to new customers it looks like I'll have to try again in 2016. Pretty dissapointing since I've been contacting them since about this time last year.

I should have enought points now in AZ to have a really good shot at another Elk tag. If that doesn't pan out I'll be buying another OTC tag in either CO or Idaho and chasing elk the last week of Sept.

I also have enough points built up to draw my favorite unit in CO for Mule Deer so I'll probably be headed above timberline the first week of season. I'm probably looking forward to this hunt the most.

I'll also be back in KS chasing Whitetails in November.

Of course I'll be putting in for sheep, moose, and goat in most of the states that offer them. It sure would be nice if my plans could get interrupted with a surprise tag!
