President Jim mentioned in the "who's in the PNW discussion' about the potential for a group deer hunt in Oregon if there was enough interest. Jim said he and Norm (Johnson) have discussed and that the Evans Creek Unit would be high on the list as there is ample public land to accommodate a larger group.

For those unfamiliar with Oregon's regulation structure, here is the 2015 edition (deer):

http://www.dfw.state.or.us/resources/hu ... 35-051.pdf

It appears that Evan Creek opens on November 14 for the late season. I would definitely be interested in attending; Evans Creek is fairly close to the unit I have hunted in the past and I could even spend part of my time there.

One regulation that people from outside Oregon might not be used to is that a deer tag must be purchased prior to the first season for that species anywhere in the state which in 2015 is August 27. That should get folks to commit or fall thru the cracks for an Oregon membership hunt!

Man, now I'm getting excited! I was just looking at all the regulations, and I'm thinking now that I'll move my turkey hunt in the spring down south to Evans Creek to scout it out and get a feel for the area.

Damion and Nate --

We might have to make a spring turkey hunt into a mini regional event, and to scout-out the best camp site for a Nov. B.T. hunt? I know that Norm J. has some thoughts on camp sites, Nate likely does too?

Great buck photos -- that's always "motivating!"....we won't mention the poison oak, at least it is mostly dormant in Nov.

That sounds great, Jim. I'm about to start an old job anew, so I'll have to see if I can get away at all but I'll keep at it. What dates are you thinking?

Damion

The Season runs from Nov. 14-Dec 6. I would think the first week would be best, and before Thanksgiving (Nov 26th this year).

Nate that would be great! What community do you live in?
I should be getting down to Medford sometime later this spring and was wondering if we -- and anybody else in Oregon, could have an organizing meeting...just a thought. Have had other Oregon PBSers express interest too, in helping host -- Buck Davis from the Bend area for one (also has a big wall-tent).

If my schedule permits, I'd come down for meeting.

I think I'll keep my eye on this and my schedule open. That is, if you'd welcome a Rocky Mt Region crossover... :D

Hey Nate, last time I communicated with Jim he said that the meeting would be most likely sometime in June.
